This position plans major events and press conferences for the Mayor and the Orange County Board of County Commissioners. This position also oversees and administers the day-to-day duties associated with cable TV and telecommunication franchises licensed to operate in unincorporated Orange County. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
- Develops and coordinates high profile special events and large community events involving the Mayor and/or the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
- Works closely with the Facilities Management Division to oversee all events that take place at the County Administration Center.
- Serves as the liaison during joint events between Orange County and other municipalities.
- Maintains the Mayor’s database for mailings.
- Administers the day-today duties associated with cable TV and telecommunication franchises licensed to operate in unincorporated Orange County.
- Provides technical and administrative assistance in customer service, complaint investigations, and regulatory enforcement.
- Monitors and assesses ordinance/franchise compliance referring any franchise non-compliance issues to the County Attorney’s office.
- Assists in the development of local government access channels. Coordinates public hearings associated with franchise and/or ordinance issues. Receives, documents and resolves related citizen complaints.
- Maintains accurate records and maps related to cable TV franchise areas.
- Prepares quarterly reports showing operation of franchises and fees paid to the County.
- Performs research projects, conducts independent studies and prepares comprehensive reports.

| Minimum Qualifications |

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Public or Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Telecommunications, Communications, or a closely related field or, seven years of progressively responsible professional or business experience in events planning, telecommunications law, database management, or public relations.
The ability to read engineering drawings and maps as well as understand the technical functions of telecommunications, construction and engineering industry is vital. Experience in event planning and coordination, catering, audio visual, equipment rental, protocol, ADA compliance, fire code requirements, TV production and computer knowledge of Access, Outlook Excel, PowerPoint and Smart Board operation are important.
Events planned and coordinated must meet the needs of Orange County Government and it’s elected officials while being fiscally responsible to Orange County citizens. This requires a high level of problem-solving skills and the ability to manage costs without jeopardizing quality. This position also requires a level of understanding customer service needs and County requirements.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of staff and the public to explain County policies and procedures. Work requires professional judgment and leadership ability with considerable independence under the direct supervision of the Communications Division Manager of his/her designated supervisor.
