| General Functions |

This role assists the Shift Supervisor with directing and overseeing the daily operations of the assigned shift in the Communications Center shift. Responsible for coordinating activities, assessing and supporting technical/staffing needs of the Communications Center.
General supervision is received from the Dispatcher Supervisor or Fire Communications Center Assistant Manager, who reviews work and evaluates performance based on efficiency, effectiveness and adherence to established procedures. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Works as an intermediate supervisor by assisting the Dispatcher Supervisor in the operation of the Emergency Communication Center.
- Schedules work assignments and assists in resolving employee issues. Manages overtime slots, as needed.
- Monitors radio channels and responds to escalated complaints and errors involving communications.
- Assists with employee evaluations and discipline, as needed.
- Makes decisions on the movement of equipment to provide adequate coverage for fire rescue protection on a countywide basis.
- Reports radio, telephone and building maintenance problems to the proper staff or company.
- Monitors emergency equipment for proper operation.
- Assists Dispatcher Supervisor with assigned projects. Plans, directs and supervises dispatchers when the Supervisor is not available or present.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must currently hold the position of Orange County Fire Rescue Department Dispatcher and possess three (3) years of consecutive experience in the role.
A minimum of (15) college credits.
Must possess and maintain the following;
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification while employed.
- Florida 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) certification.
- Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) certification while employed.
Must possess the Communications Training Officer certification within three (3) months of promotion and maintain the certification while employed. |
