PROPERTY SPECIALIST

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   Responsible for processing surplus real property for disposal, coordination of demolitions and research to provide both written and oral information to the public, County departments, surveyors, real estate agents, and developers concerning County owned real estate.

Work is performed with general supervision and is reviewed for compliance with division objectives and policies for achievement of desired results.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Coordinates all facets of surplus real property sales including advertising, web page updates notifications, auction set up, and bid openings.
  • Coordinates all relocations and demolitions of unwanted structures for County owned land including notifications, advertising, auction set up, and bid openings.
  • Monitors and notifies the Comptroller's Property Accounting Department of required updates and revisions to the Buildings, Lands and Facilities List.
  • Handles special research projects including written responses to citizens, real estate agents, developers and other County agencies.
  • Serves on special committees and groups on behalf of the Real Estate Management Division.
  • Reviews, distributes and obtains corrections for all tax bills on County owned property.
  • Coordinates Division’s personal property inventories.
  • Tracks all assigned projects through the Division’s computer tracking system.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   High school graduate or equivalent with three years of experience in reading and interpreting legal descriptions, laws and regulations pertaining to the County sale, purchase and ownership of real estate.

Must possess a valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire. Must possess strong and effective oral and written communications skills.
 
Preferences
   Experience in coordination of demolitions and relocations of unwanted structures. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and windows applications.
