| General Functions |
| |
Disseminates information in a variety of formats to the media, Orange County employees, and the general public. Work is performed under the general supervision of assigned supervisor and is reviewed on a regular basis through observations, conferences and results achieved. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
Duties may vary based on area of assignment:
- Prepares, reviews or summarizes press releases and provides support to media organizations about Orange County events. Manages the web content of the Chairman’s page and press releases.
- Develops and creates positive newsworthy media stories.
- Provides press conference planning. Writes and sends media alerts for press conferences and Board of County Commissioners’ meetings.
- Expedites and directs routine informational responses to the media, provides media support for public relations and community outreach, and coordinates in-house media communications.
- Provides media training.
- Gathers information and photographs from throughout Orange County or other sources for internal publications and educational outreach brochures.
- Edits articles submitted for publication for grammar, brevity, and clarity.
- Posts events, flyers, contributes text and images to the Orange County Intranet.
- Coordinates and implements community events, meetings, school and public outreach programs.
- Performs related duties as required.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Associate’s degree and two years of media or public relations, journalism, communications, photography, or audio visual experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training or experience. |
