WAN ADMINISTRATOR

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Responsible technical work in applying skills in Windows NT systems and WAN/LAN administration. The effort is focused in supporting project management and providing operating system level support on a 24 X 7 basis for Orange County ‘s computer environment.

Member of a team supporting 15 enterprise servers and 8 servers supporting the county-wide Exchange program.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Administers County enterprise NT servers.
  • Administers County Intranet server operating system.
  • Administers County Payroll server, HR and ISS LAN’s.
  • Designs and configures LAN’s for county departments and divisions.
  • Monitors performance of county internet and payroll servers.
  • Assists county departments and divisions to obtain quotes for LAN’s.
  • Provides 24 X 7 operational support.
  • Installs hardware and software for servers.
  • Provides consulting services for the department and division PC LAN Coordinators.
  • Establishes County-wide standards.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering or a closely related field and six years of systems programming experience.



Equipment or Computer Software Skills Required

Workstation, server experience. Knowledge of UNIX, NT, TCP/IP, and LAN’s. Knowledge of security administration, Microsoft Office Products, and Independent Software Vendors (ISV) products
 
Preferences
   Experience in MSCE, networking.
