COMPUTER OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

General Functions
   Plans, coordinates, and supervises all aspects of assigned projects to ensure the successful and timely completion of these projects. The position performs a wide variety of senior-level, complex, and technical evaluations concerning the unit’s assigned projects and supervises technical staff in these efforts. Work is performed under the supervision of a ISS Unit Supervisor and is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Plan and coordinate projects assigned.
  • Review and approve the activities of the Computer Operations Analyst and participate in providing computer room architecture and equipment installation.
  • Coordinate, prioritize, and monitor staff performing duties of Computer Operations project coordination and analysis.
  • Coordinate Regional Computer Center physical access requirements and maintain and test the physical security system software.
  • Review and approve the activities of the Computer Operations Analyst and participate in providing evaluations of computer operations activities.
  • Develop and generate materials for pre-purchasing processes of Requests for Purchase, Requests for Bid, and Requests for Information for vendor provided computer maintenance and related services.
  • Administer Performance Management program for staff.Plan and coordinate projects assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Data processing or a closely related field and eight years of experience in medium to large scale computer systems. Four years of specified experience must have been in a supervisory or project management capacity. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Intermediate to master skill sets of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project. Use of MSDOS, 3rd/4th generation LAN software. OCE Laser Printer, programming language, MICR and OCR laser deployment methods, AutoCAD – GIS mapping software, Image editing software and scanners. Working knowledge of IBM OS/390, JES2, CICS, NETVIEW, and UNIX. Personal computer software of Windows 95/98/NT/2000 JAVA, Scripts, INET and web browsers.
 
Preferences
   County’s current computer operations environment containing IBM equipment, medium to large mainframe hardware physical planning. System automation and monitoring software for referenced systems. Working knowledge of Change Management and Helpdesk methodology, IBM CLISTS, UNIX command procedures, programming languages, client server methodologies and mainframe software applications.
