ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT CLERK

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   Performs responsible clerical, receptionist and / or switchboard operator tasks, based on area of assignment.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
   Duties may vary based on area of assignment.

  • Serves as an information resource for County employees and general public on routine matters.
  • Greets, assists and refers visitors to the appropriate staff.
  • Performs switchboard operator using multi-line telephones.
  • Routes telephone calls and takes messages.
  • Opens, sorts and distributes the mail.
  • Performs clerical duties such as filing, faxing, photocopying and dispatching.
  • Typing duties include completion of routine correspondence and memoranda.
  • Participates in emergency activities/response.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of general clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

If required of the position, the hiring department may require the ability to type at the rate of 20 or 40 correct words per minute and/or PC experience with word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software, based on area of assignment.

May be required to demonstrate proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software, grammar, spelling or filing.

May be required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain a Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire date.

Selected applicant may be subject to a background screening and fingerprinting for which he/she must bear the cost and must obtain favorable screening results in order to obtain employment.

Community Corrections Department
Depending on area of responsibility may be required to be bilingual, English/Spanish.
