MICROCOMPUTER SPECIALIST

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Provides hardware and software support for all phases of microcomputer equipment within the County. Evaluates, reviews, and recommends computer equipment to establish County standards. Monitors and responds to Help Desk trouble calls. This position requires knowledge of all phases and variations of microcomputer operation/support.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Performs analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design and installation and support of new and existing microcomputer systems.
  • Works on moderately complex applications.
  • Confers with the customer to diagnose problems, apply solutions and determine the types of hardware and software required.
  • Monitors and responds to Help Desk trouble calls and provides end user training in use of equipment and software.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math or related field with two years experience in installing, programming and troubleshooting microcomputer hardware and software or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.



Software and Equipment Skills Required

Technical and support level knowledge of all Microsoft Office products. Experience using microcomputer diagnostic tools.
 
Preferences
   Individuals who have MCP, MCSE, or A+ certifications.
