COMMISSION & STAFF Cesar Calvet, Commissioner Orange County Appointee
César E. Calvet, President of CNL Bank Latin Banking Group, came to the United States in 1961 as a participant of the Pedro Pan (Peter Pan) Program for young Cuban exiles. He graduated from Bishop Moore High School and earned an AA from Valencia Community College and a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Rollins College.
In 1968, after completion of a two-year tour of duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, César began his professional career with SunTrust Bank Central Florida N.A. (formerly the First National Bank of Orlando). He was employed by SunTrust thirty seven years until he recently joined CNL Bank. He has served as Board Member in numerous local and state organizations such as the Orlando-Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Economic Development Commission of Metro Orlando, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and the One Florida Accountability Commission. He is a past President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando and currently a member of the UCF Proposed Medical School Task Force. César’s wife, Olga, is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Central Florida. César and Olga have two daughters, Cristina and Alexandra.
